The White House Grill

We love to experience new things in the areas around our home. From exploring unfamiliar locations to meeting new people and hearing their stories, there is always something new to be had. And of course, trying new and exciting cuisine is one of the highlights!

We don’t have to go far to have a new culinary adventure. Sometimes the best way to tickle your foodie fancy is to travel just a short distance from home. You never know what you might find just an hour away.

That’s just what we did when we dropped into one of the crown gems of Post Falls restaurants: The White House Grill.

First Impressions

If you’re looking for a taste of the Mediterranean, then this is sure to fit the bill. Here, you can begin indulging in the flavors of Greece with a refreshing glass of red wine or perhaps some ouzo, a traditional anise-flavored liqueur. And if you love garlic, then you’ll be in heaven as the chefs use it generously in many of their dishes. The waif of garlic filled the air and seemed to be seeping out of every nook and cranny of this popular eatery.

From the curry to the lamb to the garlic and olive oil, everything is as it should be for a Mediterranean dining experience. But beware, the White House Grill can be a bit crazy and noisy at times, but that’s all part of the fun.

The lively atmosphere is perfect for a romantic night out or family gathering, so come and experience the flavors of Greece firsthand.

Let the Games Begin!

We decided to get a full Greek dining experience, so we ordered a bottle of the house red wine, an appetizer, soup, salad, entrée, and a dessert.

Sarmisak

For the appetizer, we chose a dish called Sarmisak, a delicious roasted garlic dip with whole garlic cloves, and ground parmesan cheese served with warm pita bread for scooping. Next up was the Shepard’s salad, a refreshing combination of chopped tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, onions, and kalamata olives tossed in the house Greek vinaigrette and topped with feta cheese.

The flavors were spot on for traditional Greek cuisine, especially the salad. Our soup was a roasted garlic potato soup with whole garlic cloves and mild curry finished off with fresh mint and house-made croutons. The portions were generous, and it was the perfect start to our meal.

The Main Course

For the entrée, we decided to stick with the Greek theme and ordered the Mixed Grill, the most popular item on the menu. And let us tell you, this dish is nothing short of divine! It’s truly one of the best meals we’ve ever had.

The Mixed Grill features perfectly grilled Chilean sea bass, tiger prawns, and curry chicken, and we added some grilled-to-perfection lamb skewers for good measure. Every bite is packed with flavor, from the garlic and savory spices to the perfectly seasoned ingredients. The dishes are delectable and oh-so juicy, particularly the sea bass. The whole meal is served over a bed of flavorful and moist house rice pilaf with garlic green beans.

You absolutely have to try the rice and green beans at this restaurant, even if you have to order them as a side. Trust us, it’s an unexpectedly thrilling twist on these classic ingredients.

There’s Always Room for Dessert

Okay, we were stuffed but we just had to try the Baklava because it sounded too delicious to pass up. In case you’re not familiar, Baklava is this amazing, sweet pastry thing with layers of crispy phyllo dough, all stuffed with nuts and drizzled with honey.

It’s like the ultimate dessert from the Middle East and Mediterranean. They bake it to perfection and then douse it in mouthwatering syrup. It’s served in tiny squares that are totally addictive. It’s flaky, sweet heaven in every bite!

You Won’t Want to Miss this Opportunity!

Our first visit to the White House Grill was a complete success! Our taste buds were thoroughly satisfied with their authentic Greek cuisine. We only had the chance to try a few items on the menu, but there’s so much more we’d love to sample.

We’re already planning our next visit so we can continue exploring all the delicious options this restaurant has to offer. If you’re a fan of Greek food or just looking for a new culinary experience, we highly recommend giving the White House Grill a try.
